About Jing
Influenced by my family — my uncle is a renowned calligrapher and my father is passionate about the art of calligraphy — I began learning Chinese calligraphy at the age of eight. Over the years, I have won numerous awards and accumulated more than twenty years of experience in the field. Since 2015, I have been teaching calligraphy professionally. I graduated from the China4 Academy of Art, one of the country’s top art institutions, and since 2023, I have been teaching calligraphy in Spain.
Chinese calligraphy is an art form built upon Chinese characters. The oldest Chinese script, Oracle Bone Script, was inscribed on turtle shells and animal bones over 3,000 years ago. People used pictorial symbols to record events, which gradually evolved into the Chinese characters we use today. Calligraphy is not only a cornerstone of Chinese culture but also an important part of world cultural heritage, carrying the emotions and wisdom of humanity accumulated over millennia.
Learning calligraphy opens a window into Chinese culture and allows us to engage in a dialogue with the crystallized wisdom of thousands of years of human history. It is not merely a means of transmitting written information but a way to connect with nature and the broader world. The essence of Chinese calligraphy lies in expressing emotion through each brushstroke — every line flows from the mind, through the hand, and onto paper. This process requires full concentration, akin to dynamic meditation. Studying calligraphy can help find inner peace amidst the busyness of modern life, offering timeless wisdom through an ancient art form.
